Polyester corded textile strapping — also known as polyester hot-melt composite strapping or bonded textile strap — is made from multiple strands of high-strength polyester filament yarn bonded with hot-melt adhesive. Widely used across Europe, it is a soft, flexible alternative to steel strapping: it combines excellent tensile strength with safe, surface-friendly handling, making it ideal for loads that steel straps would scratch or crush.
Compared with rigid PP strapping, PET strapping and our woven polyester cord strapping, hot-melt textile strapping is lighter and more pliable, while still holding tension reliably over long-distance transport.
What Is Hot-Melt Bonded Textile Strapping?
Textile strapping is produced by bundling high-tenacity polyester filaments and fixing them with hot-melt adhesive, which gives the strap a soft, fabric-like feel while keeping the full strength of the polyester yarn. This is different from:
- Woven / composite cord strapping — polyester yarns are cross-woven and coated; check our polyester cord strapping for higher break strengths (up to 2,600 kg system breaking strength).
- PP / PET strapping — extruded rigid straps; PP suits light-duty carton closing, PET suits heavy pallet loads.
Hot-melt textile strapping sits in between: softer and gentler than rigid straps, stronger and neater than twine — the go-to choice in European markets for delicate and medium-duty bundling.
Polyester Hot-Melt Textile Strapping Features
- High tensile strength — produced from high-strength polyester filament, with linear break strengths from 160 to 510 daN across the range.
- Surface-safe — as a textile material it will not damage delicate, polished or coated surfaces, and contains no sharp edges like steel strapping.
- Non-corrosive — will not rust or stain the packed goods, suitable for humid environments and long-term storage.
- Excellent anti-slip properties — the bonded textile surface grips loads securely and holds knots and buckles firmly.
- Two jointing options — can be tied directly with a knot, or fastened with packing buckles for higher joint efficiency.
- Easy to use — lightweight, soft and flexible, faster and safer to handle than steel strap of the same length.
- Clean and splinter-free — no sharp burrs and no rebound when cut, protecting operators’ hands during tensioning and cutting.

Textile Strapping vs Steel vs PET vs PP Strapping
| Property | Hot-Melt Textile Strap | Steel Strap | PET Strap | PP Strap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surface contact | Soft, no surface damage | Sharp edges, may scratch | Rigid, minor marking risk | Rigid, light-duty only |
| Corrosion | None | Rusts when wet | None | None |
| Elastic recovery | Good — absorbs shocks, keeps holding after load settles | None — loses tension if load shrinks | Good | Limited |
| Jointing | Knot or buckle | Seal + sealers | Seal / friction weld | Seal / friction weld |
| Handling & safety | Lightweight, no rebound on cutting | Heavy, risk of whip-back | Moderate | Lightweight |
| Best for | Delicate surfaces, bales, medium-duty palletizing | Very heavy, rigid loads | Heavy palletized loads | Carton closing, light bundling |
Two Jointing Methods: Knot or Buckle
1. Tied by knot (no tools needed) — for quick operations, simply tie the two ends together. The anti-slip textile surface keeps the knot tight and secure. This is the fastest and most economical jointing method.
2. Fixed with packing buckles — for higher joint efficiency and a neater appearance, thread the strap through a wire or composite buckle and tension it with a manual tensioner. Buckles are available from Gude together with our strapping tools, so you get a complete strapping system from one supplier.
How to Use Polyester Textile Strapping
- Feed the strap around the load or through the bale channels.
- Tension the strap by hand for knot jointing, or with a manual tensioner when using buckles.
- Tie the knot or insert the buckle and lock it.
- Cut off the excess tail — no sharp edges remain, and there is no dangerous rebound.
Applications
Hot-melt polyester textile strapping is a popular choice in European markets for bundling and palletizing applications where steel strapping is too aggressive:
- Securing palletized goods with delicate, polished or coated surfaces
- Baling and baling-reinforcement for textiles, paper, waste recycling and fibrous materials
- Bundling pipes, aluminum profiles, timber and extruded products
- Agricultural bales, hay and straw packaging
- Unitizing light-to-medium duty loads to replace steel strapping safely
- Export packing where rust and surface marking must be avoided
It can be tensioned and tied by hand with a simple knot for quick operations, or used with packing buckles for higher joint strength.

Frequently Asked Questions
For light-to-medium duty loads — bales, palletized goods, pipes and profiles — yes. It offers comparable working strength for these applications without scratching surfaces, rusting, or hurting operators. For very heavy rigid loads, we recommend our higher-strength polyester cord strapping or PET strapping.
A properly tied knot on the anti-slip textile surface is secure and widely used in Europe. Using packing buckles further improves joint efficiency and gives a neater finish — the choice depends on your load weight and working speed.
No. As a textile material, the strap is soft and edge-free, so it will not scratch, dent or mark delicate, polished or coated surfaces — a key reason buyers choose it over steel strapping.
No. The strap is made of polyester filament and hot-melt adhesive, both non-corrosive. It is suitable for humid environments, sea freight and long-term storage.
